This is to sound the alert that the game server is down, why it is down I do not know, I made this topic just to let anyone who might be looking for answers know that it is not your end it is the actually game server. Hopefully it will be back up soon please be patient 🤓

The game server crashed and I don't know why. It's back up now, but some data is potentially lost :-( If anyone was doing experiments, or if you know what you were doing at the time of the crash, please let me know. (This might have been triggered by the new text hint code somehow?) I can't guarantee that we won't have another crash soon. There are times where I will be asleep and won't be able to restart the server quickly. Will do my best to investigate soon, though I have very little time currently.

I was chatting with Soda with the color and slanted text just a few seconds before the crash, but this was the normal thing we have been using since it came out on weGL

In the upcoming days/weeks I will use four strategies to find out more about the crash and fix it: 1.) I will meticulously check every single source code change from the last-known 'good' server version to today's version. I have done some major rework on the game's fundamental code in the past months and I might have made a mistake that I did not catch. 2.) I will stress-test (and 'fuzz') the new text-hint related code to see if I made a logic error in this part. As this is the most recent change to the server this might also be the most logical place for a new bug to pop up. 3.) I will start stress-testing (and 'fuzzing') an instrumented version of the game server software in a simulated environment to see if this triggers any bug that I previously did not catch. 4.) If all three above fail to produce any insights within a few days or a week, I will replace the production game server software with the instrumented build so that I can fully diagnose the problem next time it would crash. My apologies for the interruption in service yesterday and for the potentially lost data. We've had very few hard crashes in over nine years and I want to keep it that way. We (I) need to get back to a 'fully reliable' state as soon as possible.
