New players can learn to play as well as those at the top of the leaderboard, and if things stay as easy as they are, the leaders will never lose ground. But, if things get more difficult, then the leaders will have a higher chance of failing, while other players have a better chance of catching the leaders after becoming skillful hunters. Yea... difficult means, more time invested in the game, but honing skills can make things less difficult. And if a person is worried about investing in a game, maybe, they shouldn't be playing the game in the first place... or any game. I don't think of it as "investment" anyway, because I don't get anything in return. It's just amusement. "The way quests work currently people dont need skill... just time and luck." Sure, hunting specific creatures take some luck, but it also takes skill, because a player still needs to know what biome and what land level will most likely turn up that specific creature. It will probably take more than a week to find just one Sterling Wolf in Splintered Woodland at Level 500, but then find 10 of them in just 10 mins, in the Forest, at Level 5. It may not be skillset at all why certain people don't won't to play PvP. It could be preference. For example, I don't play PvP because I prefer to play PvP inside the Angeldust game itself, not in a completely separate game. And I prefer to use a Scout-style crossbow as my weapon, rather than a Sorceress-style wand. I personally love PvP. I even requested it. It may (or may not) be the same for Hummm, but I have a feeling, if PvP was inside the AngelDust game, and not separate, I think he'd do just fine. I just turned 62 yrs old this year, so my preference for the game may change on a dime. I stopped for about 2-3 months from playing this game because I was spending more time with one of my grandchildren. I like this game, but I prefer my grandchildren more, so I invest more time with them. That's real investment. In a game, it's not investment (unless you're Firefly).. it's just amusement.

In my last comment, in the 4th paragraph, in the first line... "won't" was suppose to be "want".

Well knowing where to hunt is pretty easy actually, you could just look on the website or even easier...just ask on discord. From then on, quests are a luck game. Toward the end I adopted a strategy: if its a snake or a bear I'd just log in and do the quest the next day. Its still a gamble, cuz theres a change the RNG might give two sucky mobs in a row. I think quest may need a rewamp, a way to make it harder and so that people cant do multiple accounts at once... One possibility is to finnaly implement dungeons...make it so you have to do it solo so people cant do mutiple accounts. It would be a more fun experience and much more complexity than just relying on luck that you will find some specific creatures in an area.

@Obi: "Hummm can't PvP" ?? what?!? dude, check the score! I've killed you 4x, you've killed me only 3x ... I've killed FF 10x he's killed me 8x ... I have you BOTH beat... @KJ is right on, the implementation of PvP is a completely different game; and my interest in it is zero. My play style requires the full abilities of the sorc: flying, shielding, healing and wreaking havoc. Being limited to just one of those is a non-starter.

Im just making everyone mad arent I heh Yeah I said that and I stand by it. Maybe I should have said you dont like PvP tho. You say you have us both beat. 1v1 us when we all have full hp and we shall see :P Plus, you just stay in the back and wait for the oprotune moment to strike, which is smart dont get me wrong, but I assume that Firefly, like me, doesnt go looking for you when everyone focues him just to find you and exhuast you. Yes, PvP doesnt have the full weapon set or even any other weapons than the spell orb. But if we had every weapon for every class: 1. Mages would always win - spamm shield and fly up and you overpower everyone. Firefly would need to rewamp flying and shielding of mages and fighters...(maybe make it so you have to be looking in the direction of the projectile and not just have it block everything around. 2. Every class other than the scout would be able to just run away and heal up. The current system is much more fair to everyone. 3. Builder could just spam down turrets and run away, have a whole bunch of them and builder wins...unless mage and fighter block them. 4. Fighter would have a serious disatvantage - hard to hit anyone if youre not next to them...while every other class has ranged and close combat other than the scout, which could trap you and run to a safe distance I guess. Im sure there are much more issues if everyone had all weapons. Unless Firefly spent months rewamping everything PvP with all weapons is unplayable. You could make it so everyone has turrets or hammers or swords or crossbows, but mixing that might be more difficult. PvP should be different than the normal game...youre playing againt players not AI.

A fundamental problem is that there is no story that accompanies the game. Nothing to discover in that sense. There is something but it is not said. I think quests are a tool to tell stories. I think of Skyrim (skiping the differences). We can have NPCs that through quests are telling a story. It is not easy, but it is much more immersive and can tie everything.

It would be great to have some fixed meeting points. Cities maybe. With names, utilities and NPCs that invite you to make quests. Example: an NPC can ask us to follow a TP to start an adventure. And in that adventure in several stages we are told a story. And through the quests, you can tell a bigger story.

@obi Implement dungeons? I just wait for possibility to spawn creatures, be sure I will make some after. However I think to explore a dungeon in a group is an option we should not disallow.

The leaderboards are secondary, serve to encourage competition, but no more than that. They can be divided by time (week, month, total) and other things (regions), but they do not do more than that. To involve the players you need a story, something to do and discover. It takes adventure. But, what is the point?
