I just woke up to an unresponsive Angeldust website and game server and (GM) and user reports on the same. Somehow one of the servers ran out of available memory and the operating system decided to shut down the database software, grinding everything to a halt. To solve the issue in the short term I restarted the database software. I hope that nobody lost important data, but I can't really tell from the log files that I have. If this reoccurs anytime soon I'll investigate options to limit system memory consumption more. For now I'll trust that the system can run for months on end without hitches like it did before. There are no signs of other issues. (For future reference: this incident happened on February 3rd, 2026.)
