Correct me if I'm wrong. During the stream, Firefly visited Dragon Throat Valley (for webgl tests) playing without the game's music, this made me notice the ambient sounds. So I went ingame and vibe checked the sounds of both Valessi and Dragon Throat, and few things caught my attention. Dragon Throat has bird sounds and I guess a very very soft breeze, plus water sounds. When I checked Valessi tho, I noticed high presence of water sounds (due to the water channel, and the old bits of Valessi buried underground) so it makes sense. What is interesting to me is that some spots of Valessi doesn't have any ambient sounds, no birds nothing. The main difference between those two buildings is the presence of trees (not custom). My question is: how the game ambient sounds works? I fixed some water sounds in Valessi at some places where there's no water nearby, but located below the building. I noticed that a small body of water doesn't produce sounds (natural or placed by a player), a 3x3 for example. I also placed trees below Valessi to vibe check if the trees produce the bird noises, but no results. How it works? Also, is there any possibility to add new ambient sounds?

Ambient sounds for water and forest (birds) are indeed based on the presence of water and trees in the nearby areas. If you add a ton of invisible trees the game performance tanks, but eventually triggers the forest and bird sounds. Which I think is unfortunate, because I don't think a scene without trees should have a forest feel to it. I could make 'leaves' and 'dense bush' objects count as "trees" so that they also eventually trigger forest (bird) sounds. I'm conflicted, because I don't see Valessi as an actual forest. You'd rather want a wider array of ambient sounds and being able to define custom sounds for your builds.

Ah Ich see, so I will have to add tons of trees below Valessi to have birds singing. I'm not sure if dense bushes and leaves should count as trees to make them trigger bird sounds, I guess it depends on how the player uses them. It seems very unfortunate to not have a very visible forest in Valessi (compared to Dragon Throat), but there's a good amount of trees, and they are very well spread throughout the building I believe. It just feels weird to have absolute silence in a few places. Thanks for the info Firefly, I appreciate it :)
