I agree with what KJ and Mystellenery say, on the other hand when I changed my building strategy a bit, it is bit better. As I said before, when you have space around, it is very nice improvement, however for short distances it is worse. About "fast building", if we talk about the same, now it is easier do it from longer distance, at lease over one block. Then it works as before.

Oof! It's difficult to get this somewhere that pleases everyone. But I know that nobody explicitly complained about the old system. Personally I like the bigger range of the new system, I think it makes building feel more natural for newcomers. I also fully understand it makes 'snapping' blocks into place harder than before since you're bound to target distant blocks before getting the 'snap'. It would be helpful if I could go to a world in which the old system never existed and some of you didn't have years of experience with it. That would give an unbiased first impression of the 'new' system, but alas—I can't go to such a world :D Toggling between systems in-game is not a solution. More buttons isn't better, I'd rather have pretty sane defaults like all other aspects of the game. Luckily Angeldust v3.5 is around the corner, but not quite packaged yet. I can still revert to the old system if that's the popular vote. I'm not a big fan of democracy for most features, but you all are better builders than me. So get voting and/or share your thoughts. Also let me know explicitly if you're fine and comfortable with the current system, most of the time people won't post if they experience things as being good already.

I vote for the old system because the bigger range is not useful for me. Most of the time you have to walk to that place anyway.

I prefer, building next to a structure rather than building further away, so if this was a democracy, reverting back to the old (and less cumbersome) targeting system works for me.

I agree with Moniq, on making the crosshairs bigger. Larger crosshairs should benefit hunters better. When I quest, or hunt, it's easy to lose the small crosshairs when moving quickly.

If we are voting, I vote for the new / present system and range. I will also encourage people on discord to express their thoughts and cast votes. Moniq said in #42: "Bigger crosshair would also help (and not changing color to purple when it is not possible to place a block)." Reverting the way the crosshair was before would be more useful for me. I really liked the feedback I got when trying to fill holes behind a wall (if theres a crosshair, I have a missing space to fill, no crosshair and I know I'm done)
