I was trying to think of something to talk about on the forums because it's somewhat dead, and I thought of this... Wouldn't it be nice to have a lighter environment when building? So many times,it's not bright enough, and we need to set up a few lights so we can see better, while building, and then delete them when we're done. Maybe, whenever we pick up a block, the area where we're at, will automatically become a little brighter. Also, the brighter atmosphere could be activated only when we're on our own claimed lands, so the brighter surroundings couldn't be used for other aspects of the game... like for hunting, or exploring.

I agree .. It’s not enough when building light, especially when building a castle in a dark location .. But you need a portable light, a flashlight, a lamp over a character or the like .. Because when you build in the open air you can still get used to the dusk building a room is much more serious .. Even after lighting the rooms in my castle it’s a little dark, but during construction it’s a total darkness .. P.S .: Sorry for the bad English, I use Google translator ..

Sounds like a pretty good idea! It's unfortunately 100% impossible to add this in the current engine, but seeing that I'm trying to push the technology miles ahead it could be a very simple-to-implement feature in the future. You've seen my demo where the entire world changes color instantly, that's what I'd use for this. Daytime all the time.

This is OK idea, but, if you really want to add it, Firefly, I can recommend(!!!) you to make it as new tool like glasses or block picker. Let's say - tool named "night vision glasses" (you know, that's pretty ez task for you to make new item model. You just can recolor glasses frame to black and recolor lenses to green), which cost will be 5000 coins or less. Just select it in hotbar, click LMB and done, you just got first prototype of angeldust on OpenGL 3.0.

It is only necessary that this work in conjunction with stacking blocks, as an option, and not instead of .. As for night vision goggles, I fully support it under the condition of joint work with construction .. P.S .: Sorry for the bad English, I use Google translator ..

I myself won't need this, since I can clearly see everything even in closed spaces. But as I saw from the stream, Firefly didn't see the inside of the barn at all, until I added a light...while I could clearly see everything on my montior. KJ also said its very dark. If you add it, make it optional...maybe do what Alex suggested and add it into the goggles, click once - matrix, click again - nightvision etc.

Yes, I didn't explicitly say so, but this would be a goggle toggle. I'm undecided yet as to whether it should stack with the grid or be a separate mode. The idea is that the goggles can cycle through multiple vision modes until you're back to normal. Night vision sounds pretty fun too, but maybe that should be a scout ability. Oooh!

many other games have implemented a /lamp (toggle) ... it's especially fun when people go PvP and forget to turn it off.

Oh, come on, giving single ability to one class is real bulls... Ahem, it's really bad idea, will be much better if you will make it as new item. Seriously, it's really bad idea...

@Obi... you won't have those 16 yr old eyes forever. Also, it's possible, you have the brightness up on your monitor... higher than we do.
