This might sound odd but I didn't even know I was doing a speedrun. I was just exploring and it looked like a puzzle, had to try it.

Exploring and discovering is the right approach for dungeons, they're beautifully built and there's tons of stuff that you don't see in the rest of the game. It's a quirky thing that all dungeon runs count as a "speedrun". Just take your time and only go for a record time once you've discovered all the magic and if you feel like it.
