Off the subject of my original comment, but I gave an idea to help promote the game a few weeks ago. Maybe, FF should have a temporary discount on the drakelings. Instead of $33, sell the drakelings for $15-$20 for a couple of weeks, or a month as a promotion. That would be $15-$20 invested by the gamer, and he/she will not be so quick to quit the game, and be a whole lot happier when playing. When the promotion has finished, raise the price to $25, or $33. If the drakelings aren't selling at $33, then maybe the price needs to come down.

KJ: the problem corpse and kinjal have isn't the price, the problem is that they're kids with no money of their own, nor a credit card they could link to paypal, even if the price for the donator badge was just one dollar, they probably wouldn't be able to buy it; plus, i highly doubt it would increase the amount of sales enough to be equal to the money firefly gets by having it at 33$ the donator badges are very much selling: anyone who is able to buy the badge (= has a credit card) and is willing to spend any money on games, has probably already done so. to people who put money into games, dropping the price wont mean much at all, as in, they would have bought it were it 33$ or 20$ or 15$. had firefly priced it lower initially, i am willing to bet that the amount of sales would have likely ended up being pretty much the same and firefly would be getting way less. -- to drive my point home, i asked kinjal how much he would pay for the donator badge, if he could choose the amount, he jokingly said 1$. i then asked him if he would pay it now if it were 1$, he said no i like free.

I agree w/ Obi. Had the initial price been $100, I still would have paid it. People who have money to play games don't flinch at worth while add-ons, no matter what the cost; which is why FF made a grave mistake making AD free, even if AD costs $1 it weeds out the "I only play free" crowd. Without ads, or some revenue generating mechanism, a free game is just "bad business". Perhaps a better model for the dragon would be renting it: $1 for 1 day (24 hours). Once you experience the game on a dragon, $33 for a forever dragon sounds dirt cheap. @FF: Your game is good. Your socialism is starving you. Wake up to the joy and freedom of capitalism.

@obi... Kinjal is just being a good negotiator when he said,"no, I like free". I like free, too, and that will always be my first choice. I've noticed that many parents will pay for their kids' gaming needs. Like kinjal, I like 'free', but that doesn't necessarily mean that he wouldn't buy a drakeling for $15 while he can. It's also possible that someone might be willing to pay $15 for a young person to have a drakeling. I know of an AD player buying a younger person a drakeling, so a $15 price might cause that to happen more. @Hummm... not everyone is as filthy rich as you are, and have money to throw around. Even though I have paid $33 for a drakeling, I will never pay $100 for one. I'm only guessing, but imo, most AD players will not pay $100 for a drakeling. Start charging a $1 day to rent a drakeling might find a lot of people quitting. I've quit a lot of those kinds of internet games very quickly. Any person with a frugal mind like mine will call that a money pit, and quit. A one-time purchase is how I've always bought my games, and I've been into gaming since the early 1980s. If I didn't get a drakeling because of my "Wonder", I wouldn't have kept building, and would have quit a long time ago. Because I didn't quit, I eventually did buy a drakeling for my granddaughter for $33, so she wouldn't be bored. She eventually did quit the game anyway. It might fail, or it might succeed, but we will never know what the drakeling sales would be unless a temporary discount/promotion is tried.
