Either way, I find the drawing very successful. As far as the hair is concerned, you can also give the pirate a haircut that has been combed backwards and smooth (even more sophisticated hairstyles have been used by pirates, especially under captains). Then, of course, the beard would be shaved smooth. Maybe a few patches on the pants. The handle of the knife, which sticks out of an almost knee-high boot. A white shirt under the coat and maybe even a white feather on the hat, if the hat is rather maintained (It would, MY MINDING / NOT FALSE UNDERSTAND, then have a rather historical reference.) Because of the media he reminds me more a witch or zombie hunter with a shotgun as a pirate / pirate captain). I hope I could possibly inspire you in some way to revisit your drawing.
