This is a broad call for comments on the following: I *think* I'm able to implement auto-spawning of NPCs. So, when you move or telecharge into an area, the NPCs will immediately be there, without having to create or activate photon machinery.

Problem is: it's all or nothing. Either all NPCs auto-spawn by default, or none do. I'm trying to gauge if it's still possible to push such an invasive change at this time, now that everyone is already used to the current system.

To accommodate existing infrastructure, NPCs will still (re)spawn when photons activate the relevant photon imitator. NPCs will also spawn immediately upon placing a photon imitator so you can directly see your NPC when placing them.

If the above sounds like a good idea, I can start with the implementation. Again, I think it's possible, but no hard guarantees just yet.

I feel it would be really nice to have "persistent" NPCs that are just there. It would prevent having to build photon machinery for the simple scenario of just wanting to spawn a merchant or so.

You could then also build photon machines that are activated without player interaction by making the NPC start up your stuff. It sounds pretty cool in all.

Let me know your thoughts and please be considerate of alternate viewpoints.

I had a whole thing written about how it could make things harder for timed NPC events or using NPCs in a machine, but it turns out there's an easy way to prevent an NPC from spawning on load...

Just place a turned on photon block on top of the imitator and the NPC won't spawn on load, then turn the photon block off when you actually want the NPC to spawn.

Seemed like this feature would be a problem, but it isn't, I like it, I'm all for it :)

I also asked for something similar to this a while ago: "You could then also build photon machines that are activated without player interaction by making the NPC start up your stuff.", which if you managed to implement this... would be pretty cool.

I say go for it !!
It would be amazing to have all NPCs spawning without doing some complex photon stuff!

I agree give it a shot, it will definitely make things a bit easier, more persistent an give life to some building aspects.

It is a good idea to have the npcs appear automatically. But a doubt, then when they turn on they will be talking and that but the players are not listening to their conversations if they are far away.

Ohh yes! I'm 100% on this. all work with NPC in complicated building will become so much easier, I was having problems with where and how to activate the NPCs in Valessi, auto spawn will help me a lot.

Also, it will help players not to spam NPCs in wonders, currently they can do this by simply activating the photon injector several times.
