Updated WebGL 'new' version: https://angeldu.st/static/webgl-new I.) Hidden players that chat now show up with a name instead 'Unknown entity', nifty! Thanks to @Loki The Witful for reporting this. II.) When players come back into view after being away, the game will now recognize them much quicker than before. III.) I've improved chunk data management and I'm interested to hear about any weirdness like missing blocks or text signs in known or newly loaded areas. This last fix solves the performance issue I had when visiting Port Perry on my recent livestream. The game regularly stalled to load in tons of world data and this is now totally smooth. Hard to test on WebGL due to limited view distance, but testing and pixel peeping is much appreciated. @ritpop: Thanks for the pointers, I'll see if I can replicate the texture loading stalls and work towards a fix.

Updated WebGL version: https://angeldu.st/static/webgl 1.) This brings the recent improvements in 'WebGL new' over to 'old WebGL'. 2.) This fixes the infinite texture loading stalls as reported by @ritpop. Textures that take too long to load are timed out and loading errors are now detected more accurately. Unavailable textures will be retried after they're dropped from the active texture cache.

Redesigned the quick messages menu so that 'Hide' is now a separate button showing the keyboard or controller shortcut. B.) Added a 'flourish' icon so that it's clearer which buttons (and their associated inputs) perform which task on the quick messages menu. C.) Keyboard and controller text hints now appear behind the main button text on the quick messages menu so that they don't overlap. D.) WebGL 'new' now has the texture loading fix as described in post 254. Testing and feedback appreciated. The 'Hide' button still does nothing currently, more news on that soon.

@Loki The Witful: In the current Angeldust design without the smiley icon there is no way to tell that sitting is bound to E / D-Pad up, so it's good to have a second button next to the quick message list. In the previous WebGL design I introduced the 'Hide' button there (closed eye), but that design is internally inconsistent with the reality that F (bottom button) is bound to 'Flourish' because you want to F – F flourish on keyboard. So you might say: alright, then we don't need the bottom left button for 'Flourish' anymore. Except on game controllers the right action button (B) for exiting a menu is reused for the quick message menu itself so that you can (B) – (B) and flourish. Having two buttons seems the best way to convey all controls on all types of input consistently. A duplicated control (which we have already) seems better than making the interface inconsistent and impossible to understand at a glance.

There is 2 webgl versions that is updated so am a bit confused. I think we should ditch one of them? The one that is confusing is this one: https://angeldu.st/static/webgl The Function designs icons has changed. Tele-charger: Instead of the bubble chat, its replace with a bunny/ hydra image. @(GM) SodaMeow: Empty or clear or refresh your browser cache! There's a new icon in both versions and apparently your computer still loads the old version. No bodies in the water is currently a fact of life :-)
